Training Peaceworkers to Build Our Capacity for the Future

NP Core Training 2005: SimulationsNP Core Training 2005: SimulationsNonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is committed to providing nonviolent peacekeepers in conflict zones around the world where we believe we can make a valuable contribution. Our goal is to help create, or keep open, a safe space for local peacemakers to do their work and protect civilians in areas of violent conflict.

Toward this end, NP is recruiting qualified and experienced people to be trained as nonviolent peacekeepers. These 500 people will become NP’s reserve corps and would be available for and committed to at least six months of service within the three year period following training.

Graduates of our training program are eligible to be considered for NP’s full time teams, currently in Sri Lanka and in the Philippines, as well as future projects and deployments.

All NP recruits are required to attend a core training, which we offer several times per year in different regions around the world. All recruits will participate in a pre-screening, an interview, and an in-person assessment prior to training. Assessment is offered over four days and is generally followed by a twenty-day training.

Costs of this training are partially covered by Nonviolent Peaceforce and partially covered by participants. Current training sessions cost 1,850 EUR (2,500 USD), covering all on-site expenses, not including air fare. Please inquire for more information if you are interested in training and this cost would be a barrier for you.

YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO SIGN UP WITH THE PEACEWORKERS REGISTER. The Peaceworkers Register works with Nonviolent Peaceforce to screen candidates for NP training and deployments, as well as for related work with other organizations.

Please Contact Gilda Bettencourt at gbettencourt at nonviolentpeaceforce.org, to express your interest. Please click here for NP’s application form for upcoming trainings. Send your resume along with a letter of interest and the application form.
