Індонезія
Advancing peacebuilding, strengthen civilian protection, and promoting resilient, inclusive, and cohesive communities across Indonesia.
A roadmap for change:
Потреба в захисті в Індонезія
In the wake of ideologically based violence, communities across Indonesia have grappled with how to restore trust, repair divides, and move forward together. Many are also living with the legacies of past conflict and facing new digital risks, including cyber-enabled human trafficking, which particularly affect young people and other at-risk groups.
Repair is possible. When people formerly affiliated with armed groups receive the support they need, and neighbours have safe, positive opportunities to engage with one another, relationships can be rebuilt. This takes community-based support, local capacity, and coordination among government, civil society, and religious and community leaders.

NP began working in Indonesia in 2020. Our Head of Mission is Dr. Delsy Ronnie.

NP’s work in Indonesia
Known locally as Nurani Perdamaian, Nonviolent Peaceforce brings experience in civilian protection, peacebuilding, and community-based approaches, and our work continues evolving with Indonesia’s changing peace and protection needs.
Today, NP supports community resilience and conflict prevention in Bima, Poso, and beyond. We work alongside local communities to rebuild trust after violence, support rehabilitation and reintegration, strengthen social cohesion and religious harmony, and prepare for humanitarian crises. We also build young people’s critical thinking and digital resilience against risks like cyber-enabled human trafficking.
This builds on work NP began in 2020, connecting West Papuan women to the ASEAN Women Peace Registry and supporting local and religious groups on unarmed civilian protection. That grew into research on civilian-led protection in Papua and, in 2021, two university partnerships in Aceh. Through the SPEAR Project (2023–2025), NP and six Acehnese organizations advanced transitional justice, youth and women’s engagement, community resilience, and local peacebuilding.
The future of NP’s work in Indonesia
Building on its experience, NP will continue to strengthen community-based approaches to peace, protection, and social cohesion across Indonesia. Future work will focus on local protection, prevention, reintegration, community resilience, and emerging digital risks, while strengthening local capacity through dialogue and collaboration with government, civil society, religious and community leaders, schools, and other relevant stakeholders across Indonesia.
Rebuilding trust
in Bima and Poso
Through our STRIVE Programme (2025–2027), NP works across 6 villages in Bima and Poso to help communities restore trust and welcome people home after violence, directly supporting 111 people so far. Alongside local government, religious leaders, schools, and young people, communities are building the connections that keep peace in place.
