[Voice of BBC Africa Correspondent, Catherine Byaruhanga] The situation is no different in the west, in Darfur, where British national, Darren Clark has been stuck since the latest conflicts began. He was lying on the floor as he shared his harrowing account.
[Voice of NP Sudan Senior Programme Manager, Darren Clark] Just in the last couple of minutes, I've just taken cover beside my bed, because I just heard some more gunshots.
[Catherine Byaruhanga] The British government says its evacuation flights from Khartoum will continue after a new ceasefire was agreed. It is urging its citizens to head there, but Darren is hundreds of miles away.
[Darren Clark] I wouldn't even contemplate trying to do that. The journey between here and there would be so, so dangerous. And this is my great fear: that once the internationals do finally get out, that the media might turn their back on the country because there's no international witnesses. I'm really fearful for what will happen to the civilians.
