Nonviolent Peaceforce meeting with MILF Chairman in Cotabato City

Nonviolent Peaceforce in the Philippines met with the MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) Chairman Mr. Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim on Friday 18th March in Camp Darapanan, Cotabato City.

The representatives from the South Central Mindanao Team Datu Piang, North Cotabato Kabacan and some staff from Main Office in Cotabato including the Country Director were warmly welcomed by the Chairman, with a statement from Mr. Murad himself that the MILF Administration is happy NP has continued to work with them for peace.

Nonviolent Peaceforce was informed of MILF's plan to continue to uphold the peace process in order to preserve the benchmarks they've reached up till now. 'Thank you for all your efforts and we hope to continue working with you in your objective - because your objective (of peace) is also our objective.'

The role of women in MILF was also mentioned, with the Chairman acknowledging that women's participation is important, and makes all the difference in the end.
