Sudan Action Center: Take Action Before The South Sudan Independence Vote

The Background: In 2005, Sudan and South Sudan signed a Comprehensive Peace Agreement that ended a decades-long civil war. On January 9, 2011, people in South Sudan voted on whether or not to become an independent country. The final result of the vote could shake the stability of the entire region.

Nonviolent Peaceforce is on the ground working with local organizations, government officials, and individuals to prevent violence from breaking out.
