Be part of the action! UCP Course Sept 18 - Nov 8, 2017

Date: August 23, 2017

UCP Course 2

Nonviolent Peaceforce is both proud and pleased to share with you its facilitated online course on Unarmed Civilian Protection (UCP).

Be part of the action. Learn how to directly protect civilians in violent conflict. Unarmed civilian protectors save lives and reduce violence. In times of war and violent conflict that continue to kill so many civilians, especially women and children, it takes an unarmed approach to break this cycle of violence.

At the completion of this course promoted in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and through Merrimack College, you’ll be able to master:

  • The foundations of nonviolence and peacekeeping.
  • How to analyze and map a conflict.
  • The various unarmed methodologies and where and how to apply them.

A student from the spring course shares:

“The course was extremely comprehensive and even without direct experience with unarmed peacekeeping previously I was able to feel comfortable with the material. The interactive lessons were outstanding and it made me feel as close to being involved in such work as possible without actually being there. The teachers were very knowledgeable and responsive and I also learned a lot from my fellow classmates and their experiences."

Now it’s your turn to take part in this great experience!

Open to any person considering humanitarian fieldwork, UN personnel, members of the military, law enforcement officers, nonviolent activists, students and curious civilians interested in gaining an appreciation of UCP principles, sources of guidance, methods and required skills. The facilitated course will take place from the 18th of September to the 8th of November 2017. It consists of 5 modules in 7 weeks.

Successful participants will earn 4 university credits through Merrimack College for ($1420) ; or a certificate of completion of the course from Merrimack College ($715).

Registration is mandatory, and you can register here until the 11th of September.

You can protect civilians who are living in or fleeing violent conflict. Your contribution will transform the world's response to conflict.
