Geneva Peace Week 2018

Geneva Peace Week 2018
Nov 05 - Nov 10
Thank you for joining us for a joint panel with Peace Direct & International Peace Institute!
Although there is growing recognition that peacebuilding must be locally led, priorities for peacebuilding are often set without adequately consulting or incorporating local knowledge and expectations, ignoring the influence and reach of local civil society organizations.
To elevate the voices of local actors and their innovative approaches to fostering sustainable peace, the International Peace Institute (IPI), Peace Direct and Nonviolent Peaceforce hosted a panel discussion, featuring three local peacebuilders, each operating in unique and complex contexts.
And that's a wrap for us at #GVAPeaceWeek! We are thankful for the collaborative efforts of @peacedirect, @ipinst, @mutetwa, and @atagerrosado on this much-needed discussion on the often overlooked contributions of the nonviolent interventions of local actors in armed conflicts. pic.twitter.com/tEVnSU4hv0

Great full room! We are so encouraged to see so many interested and engaged in working to include more local actors in their peace and protection processes. #ShiftThePower #GVAPeaceWeek @ipinst @peacedirect pic.twitter.com/okDBsq6v9P
